Regarding the Plaza Hotel being considered on Whiskey Row – As 22-year residents of Prescott, we were attracted to settle here by the reserved, classy greatness of “Everybody’s Hometown.”

I work at the Circle of Life, a residential home for older persons in their closing days. Their memory is usually impaired but all of them think, one way or the other, about what the circle or cycle of life has been for them.

With our upcoming City Council elections, I sure wish someone would clarify what the heck is going on with all this brouhaha over our Rodeo Grounds.

I encourage your support for protecting the “World’s Oldest Rodeo” by keeping it in Prescott on the existing site where is has been since 1913.

I am writing with concern about Prescott Frontier Days’ (PFD) plans for the Rodeo Grounds, presented at the June 6 public meeting I attended. I pass the grounds frequently to reach shopping and medical services, but avoid the area during rodeo because traffic is so bad.

It’s baffling why the Arizona Legislature allocated $15.3 million to Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. yet allotted $3.5 million for land purchase to create the Granite Dells Regional Park and Preserve.

Prescottonians are understandingly furious about the $15.3 million “gift” to the Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. (PFD) which is a private/non-profit entity and organizer of the “World’s Oldest Rodeo.”

I believe regardless of the renovations, the rodeo over the Fourth of July will always be in Prescott as is the tradition. Why wouldn’t we want to spruce it up and make it a better rodeo grounds, especially if it would cost the city nothing?

I moved here with my family from the southern part of the county in 1959 when I started high school. I participated in rodeo at the Rodeo Grounds through high school and college, then in RCA events until 1974.
