I am writing with concern about Prescott Frontier Days’ (PFD) plans for the Rodeo Grounds, presented at the June 6 public meeting I attended. I pass the grounds frequently to reach shopping and medical services, but avoid the area during rodeo because traffic is so bad.

Prescottonians are understandingly furious about the $15.3 million “gift” to the Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. (PFD) which is a private/non-profit entity and organizer of the “World’s Oldest Rodeo.”

I believe regardless of the renovations, the rodeo over the Fourth of July will always be in Prescott as is the tradition. Why wouldn’t we want to spruce it up and make it a better rodeo grounds, especially if it would cost the city nothing?

I moved here with my family from the southern part of the county in 1959 when I started high school. I participated in rodeo at the Rodeo Grounds through high school and college, then in RCA events until 1974.
